Tim Blais is the creator of A Capella Science, an educational and utterly nerdy musical learning experience. A former physics researcher and lifelong harmony aficionado, Tim draws inspiration from Weird Al, Bill Nye, Mike Tompkins and Vi Hart. He uses sounds from his mouth, throat and vocal cords to produce the phenomenon that is A Capella Science! Weaving dense research fields into lyric and melody, Tim's video creations have covered such topics as CRISPR gene editing, molecular robotics, string theory, evolutionary development biology, and the arrow of time. His videos have been viewed over 30 million times and are often used to supplement high school and university lessons.
Tim has spoken and performed at numerous conferences such as SynBioBeta and Canada-Wide Science Fair, universities such as University of Oslo and KAUST, research institutes such as Europe's CERN Laboratories, and numerous online events. He speaks and performs with an eye toward engaging technical audiences with their creative sides, opening up their perspective on STEM engagement and promotion by teaching them to sing, improvising from suggestions, and breaking down the process of art creation.
